About Local Missions

Local Missions is Crestwood’s arm of compassion and ministry stretching outward to the community around us, loving and serving our neighbors.  Our neighbor is anyone in need, this could be at work, in our neighborhood, at school, at the nursing home, in the hospital, on the street, at the mall, in prison, anyone.  We seek to connect those outside the church who are in need to Christ’s love. If you are looking for a place to serve, it may be closer than you think.

If you are interested in more information about service in these ministries, please contact the local mission team at outreach@crestwoodchurch.org or look for our ministry group on the City.

This organization provides emergency needs to homeless people. Crestwood Church has been involved withCARITAS for many years. We host a group of homeless from our community for one week a year in at our West Campus. From Saturday to Saturday, we provide safe shelter, serve meals, provide hot showers, and fellowship with men, women, and families.

The men’s shelter provides emergency and transitional shelter for men in need.  Every second Saturday of the month a different group from Crestwood serves meals to 20-30 men from the emergency men’s shelter downtown. SignUpGenius link

In the fall we host a Fall Community Festival on our East Campus in partnership with Elijah House Academy.  This is a time we get to know our neighbors with fun, games, food and more.

There are collection containers for canned and nonperishable foods at both campuses. Grocery bags are packed weekly and distributed from the East Campus. We continue to distribute around 400 grocery bags annually to our neighbors in need. We try to provide a variety of food in each bag including protein, vegetables, fruits, and carbohydrates.

There are two areas where Crestwood serves its neighbor in prison.  Throughout the year men at Crestwood participate in the faith based reentry program at Deep Meadow Correctional Center in Powhatan (link to prison ministry page).  Then at Christmas we serve the families of those in our program and many others that are not through the Prison Fellowship’s Angel tree program.  In this program we look to connect inmates with their children and with Christ.

Angel Tree
We are excited to serve children of the incarcerated men we minister to through prison ministry! Angels will be available soon at both campuses!  Take an Angel from the display tree which describes your child, purchase the gift keeping your total gift to $15-$25, wrap, affix the top of the Angel, and return to the church.  We also need help with delivery of these gifts the week before Christmas.
